Clomid was one of the original drugs used in post-cycle-therapy to stave off gynocomastia and raise the body’s natural testosterone levels. It is not an anabolic steroid, but a prescription drug generally prescribed to women as a fertility aid. This is due to the fact that clomiphene citrate shows a pronounced ability to stimulate ovulation. This is accomplished by blocking/minimizing the effects of estrogen in the body. To be more specific Clomid is chemically a synthetic estrogen with both agonist/antagonist properties, and is very similar in structure and action to Nolvadex. In certain target tissues it can block the ability of estrogen to bind with its corresponding receptor. Its clinical use is therefore to oppose the negative feedback of estrogens on the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, which enhances the release of LH and FSH. This of course can help to induce ovulation. Nolvadex is an oral anti-estrogen/estrogen antagonist prescription drug. Nolvadex is commonly referred to as an anti-estrogen, but technically it is more of an estrogen antagonist. An estrogen antagonist has a unique way of preventing estrogen activity. What it does is to compete with estrogen at the receptor sites, occupying it so that estrogen cannot bind with it. Nolvadex is an anticancer drug which is reportedly effective in treating breast cancer, particularly the kind that is induced by estrogen. Its other therapeutic uses include reduction of the risk of invasive breast cancer following surgery and radiation therapy for ductal carcinoma in situ. Nolvadex is also used as preventive drug. It is prescribed in women who are at high risk of developing breast cancer (genetic disposition). Proviron is a derivative of dihydrotestosterone. In clinical practice it is used to treat sexual dysfunction of various kinds, which are most often caused by a low level of endogenous testosterone. It can enhance potency and sexual interest and, in some cases, increase the sperm count. The drug does not stimulate the production of testosterone by the body, it simply replaces its lack. Proviron is not an ideal drug for growing muscle mass. It works in the best way in stack with other anabolic steroids such as testosterone. Proviron has antiestrogenic activity, i.e. prevents conversion of steroids into estradiol. The second advantage of proviron is that it greatly reduces sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), increasing amount of free (= bioavailable and active) testosterone in the blood. In fact, studies have shown that mesterolone is capable of binding to SHBG much stronger than any other steroid. Proviron as a derivative of dihydrotestosterone gives the muscles hardness and density, while at the same time contributing to the burning of excess fat, hence it`s an ideal choice for cutting cycles.
